كُتبت هذه القراءات في فترات متباعدة، نُشر بعضها في حياة الشاعرات والشعراء موضوع القراءة، وبعضها الآخر كُتب على سبيل الرثاء. تجمعها، استطرادًا، صفة الغياب عن المشهد الشعري العربي، جسدًا إذا جاز القول؛ واستمرار الحضور فيه، أثرًا وتأثيرًا.
فصول هذا الكتاب تتناول، إذن، تجارب الشعراء الراحلين بدر شاكر السياب، أمل دنقل، نزار قباني، فدوى طوقان، محمد القيسي، سركون بولص، ممدوح عدوان كُتبت هذه القراءات في فترات متباعدة، نُشر بعضها في حياة الشاعرات والشعراء موضوع القراءة، وبعضها الآخر كُتب على سبيل الرثاء. تجمعها، استطرادًا، صفة الغياب عن المشهد الشعري العربي، جسدًا إذا جاز القول؛ واستمرار الحضور فيه، أثرًا وتأثيرًا.
فصول هذا الكتاب تتناول، إذن، تجارب الشعراء الراحلين بدر شاكر السياب، أمل دنقل، نزار قباني، فدوى طوقان، محمد القيسي، سركون بولص، ممدوح عدوان، محمد الماغوط، وبسام حجار. ولقد وددت أن تضم قراءات إضافية في أشعار راحلين كبار بدورهم، لولا أنّ عوائق كثيرة حالت دون إنصافهم؛ مع استثناء محمود درويش، الذي استبعدتُه من هذه القراءات لأني كرّست له كتابًا مستقلًا أرجو أن يرى النور قريباً (ومن تعبيره، في قصيدة "قافية من أجل المعلقات"، استُمدّ العنوان).
تكريم الراحلين، غنيّ عن القول، هو الغاية الأولى وراء تجميع هذه القراءات بين دفتَيْ كتاب؛ ليس لأنّ الرحيل يستدعي هذا، كما يقتضي العرف للأسف، فحسب؛ بل كذلك، وأساسًا ربما، لأنّ الغاية التالية هي التأكيد على مكانة هذه الشعريات، واستمرار اشتغالها على نحو حيوي يناهض الموت، فضلًا عن رسوخها في الذائقة العريضة، وفي أساليب العصر وتيارات الكتابة؛ على نقيض من الفناء، ضدّ الامحاء، وانحناءً أمام زوال لا يزول.
