أرسل العلامة الأديب ابن أبي طيٍّ في هذا الكتاب أضواء البيان وأشعة الإيضاح على «لامية العرب» للشنفرى ، فأجاد ووفّى بالمراد . وكان شرحه هذا شرحاً في غاية الجزالة والتبيين ، ضم فيه فوائد غرراً ، ومعلوماتٍ من الأهمية بمكان . وهو بحقٍّ شرحٌ يحتاج إليه المتأدبون ، ويكرع من منهله اللغويون ؛ لما جمعه المؤلف من دُرَرٍ علميةٍ وجواهرَ أدبيةٍ ، يُرحل إلى أقل من مثلها ، ولا سيما والمؤل أرسل العلامة الأديب ابن أبي طيٍّ في هذا الكتاب أضواء البيان وأشعة الإيضاح على «لامية العرب» للشنفرى ، فأجاد ووفّى بالمراد . وكان شرحه هذا شرحاً في غاية الجزالة والتبيين ، ضم فيه فوائد غرراً ، ومعلوماتٍ من الأهمية بمكان . وهو بحقٍّ شرحٌ يحتاج إليه المتأدبون ، ويكرع من منهله اللغويون ؛ لما جمعه المؤلف من دُرَرٍ علميةٍ وجواهرَ أدبيةٍ ، يُرحل إلى أقل من مثلها ، ولا سيما والمؤلف طويلُ الباع ، لامعُ اليراع ، له مؤلفات عدة في شتى فنون العلم . حيث يقول ابن أبي طيٍّ : ( أما بعد : فإني أرغب إلى الله العظيم ، كاشف العظيم ، ومنزل الخير العميم ، وناشر العميم ، أن يوفقني لـما حاولته ، وييسر ما رمته من شرح كلمة الشنفرى لامية العرب ومنهاج الأدب ، القصيدة النافرة ، والقافية النادرة ... ليظهر ما أودعته به من لطائف النكت اللطيفة ، ورصعته فيه من طرائف الأدب الظريفة ) . وقد أضفى عليه محققه الدكتور إبراهيم البطشان لمسة تحقيقية عالية تزينت بها حواشي الكتاب ، ورجع إلى مصادر عدة في شتى الفنون لتحقيق الأصل ، فغدا بحمد الله تعالى تحفة فنية فريدة لا يستغني عن مثله طالب علم . وبالرغم من أن لهذه اللامية عدة شروح ؛ فإن هذا الشرح بحق يعد واسطة عقدها ، وهو المجلي في ميدان الشروح . ولهذا سعت دار المنهاج إلى طبع هذا الكتاب طبعة أنيقة لتكمل بهذا الصنيع شروح اللاميات الثلاثة : «لامية الشنفرى» ، و«لامية العجم» ، و«لامية ابن الوردي
