تكمن أهمية كتاب «جنة النساء والكافرين، سفارة نامه فرنسا» لمحمد جلبي (ترجمه إلى العربية وقدّمه خالد زيادة، «رؤية للنشر والتوزيع»، القاهرة) في كونه أول كتاب لعثمانيّ يوضع عن رحلته إلى باريس في مهمة رسمية في العام 1720، سلّم خلالها رسائل السلطان العثماني والوزير (الصدر الأعظم) إلى ملك فرنسا ورجال الدولة. لكن المهمّة كانت فرصة له للتجوّل في المدينة، ومشاهدة عمرانها ومعالمها ال تكمن أهمية كتاب «جنة النساء والكافرين، سفارة نامه فرنسا» لمحمد جلبي (ترجمه إلى العربية وقدّمه خالد زيادة، «رؤية للنشر والتوزيع»، القاهرة) في كونه أول كتاب لعثمانيّ يوضع عن رحلته إلى باريس في مهمة رسمية في العام 1720، سلّم خلالها رسائل السلطان العثماني والوزير (الصدر الأعظم) إلى ملك فرنسا ورجال الدولة. لكن المهمّة كانت فرصة له للتجوّل في المدينة، ومشاهدة عمرانها ومعالمها الاقتصادية والاجتماعية وملامحها العلمية. هذا كلّه، بالإضافة إلى معاينته أنماط الحياة. مكتوب بسلاسة سياسي يختبر شيئاً من اليوميّ والسلوكيّ.
