موضوع هذا الكتاب يتصل بالقرآن الكريم، إنه التفسير، وهو موضوع له مناهجه…وله آفاقه ومشكلاته. ومن مناهجه ما هو قلق سقيم…ومنها ما هو ثابت مستقيم، ومن مشكلاته ما هو عاطل مفتعل، ومنها ما هو مبهم غفل، ومن هنا كانت الضرورة لتمحيص هذه المناهج، ورسم معالم الآفاق والمشكلات، ليكون المسلم على هدي ونور لا يحجبه عن الحقيقة حاجب، فكان هذا الكتاب الذي ضم بحثاً شكل لبنة في طريق البحث الموضو موضوع هذا الكتاب يتصل بالقرآن الكريم، إنه التفسير، وهو موضوع له مناهجه…وله آفاقه ومشكلاته. ومن مناهجه ما هو قلق سقيم…ومنها ما هو ثابت مستقيم، ومن مشكلاته ما هو عاطل مفتعل، ومنها ما هو مبهم غفل، ومن هنا كانت الضرورة لتمحيص هذه المناهج، ورسم معالم الآفاق والمشكلات، ليكون المسلم على هدي ونور لا يحجبه عن الحقيقة حاجب، فكان هذا الكتاب الذي ضم بحثاً شكل لبنة في طريق البحث الموضوعي في ميدان التفسير العلمي للقرآن، حيث دعا الباحث من خلاله إلى ضرورة تفسير القرآن الكريم تفسيراً علمياً يسر للأجيال أن تأخذ زادها منه وهو غير مشوب بالكدر ولا محقون بالنقصان ولا محاط بالتزوير والتهريج، وقد استهل هذا البحث بمقدمة تمهيدية ثم بتعريف التفسير لغة واصطلاحاً، وأقسام التفسير الرئيسة وأهداف التفسير، ثم اتبع ذلك بيان المقصود بالتفسير العلمي، وأنواعه، وتلا ذلك فصل تناول الباحث فيه العناصر والاتجاهات الشاذة في التفسير مع نماذج من التفسير.
