سيرته
عبد الستار الراوي من مواليد بغداد سنة 1941، حصل على الدكتوراه من جامعة الإسكندرية بمصر سنة 1977، عين سفيرا للعراق لدى إيران في الفترة من 1998 وحتى 2003 تاريخ الاحتلال الأمريكي للعراق، وقبل عمله كسفير كان أستاذا للفلسفة بجامعة بغداد.

كانت مدرسة بغداد أقرب المدارس التي تأثرت بحركة الترجمة الفلسفية منذ أن كانت لأحمد بن أبي داؤد "أحد أبرز معتزلة بغداد" ندوة علمية يؤمها كبار مترجمي الفلسفة، فضلاً عن إفادة بشر بن المعتمر والمردار من قراءتهم لفلسفة الأغريق الطبيعية، وكذلك الأسكافي والخياط والكعبي الذين بحثوا في شيئية المعدوم والمباحث الفيزيائية وعلاقتها بالسببية الإنسانية، بهدف إثبات خلق العالم من ناحية، والإقرار بعلية القوانين الطبيعية من ناحية ثانية، والتصدي بالحوار والمناقشة لخصوم الإسلام ومناهضي دعوته الحضارية.
حيث يعرض هذا الكتاب أهم الدراسات الفلسفية التي تعرض جهودهم في ترسيخ الروح الحضارية والتقاليد العقلانية في تفكيرهم وفي بناء فلسفتهم المتحدة.
