من نقطة قريبة من النهاية تبدأ رواية "رجل بين ثلاث نساء" للروائي عبيد إبراهيم بو ملحه، وتتخذ مساراً دائرياً فتبدأ من حيث تنتهي الأحداث، لنقع على مشهد رجل، وقد ارتفعت سيارته عن الأرض، يشعر أنه يطير معها، قبل أن تنفجر، ليفتح عينيه ويرى نقطة نور أمامه تخرج من نهاية نفق مظلم، غاب عن الوعي في لحظةٍ لتحضر حياته أمامه بشريط سينمائي، يدرك بعدها أن حياته كانت بين حب ثلاث نساء... الأولى "ترنيم" التي انتهى حبها في المستشفى، وهي تموت، والثانية "إيمان" التي بدأ حبها في المستشفى، بعد وقوع الحادث، والثالثة هي "ليلى" عندما أنهت حبها في المستشفى.
في الخطاب الروائي تتألف الرواية من مجموعة وحدات سردية متعاقبة، مستقلة، لكل منها عنوان، يجمع بينها أن الراوي "أحمد" شاهداً عليها ومتدخل فيها، فيروي الوقائع متنقلاً من واقعة إلى أخرى، ومن ذكرى إلى أخرى، فتحضر في الرواية النساء الثلاث اللاتي أحبهن وهن ترنيم التي أحبها خلال رحلة تعليمية خارج البلاد لم يمهلها القدر كثيراً حتى توفيت في حادث مأساوي، ليعود أحمد إلى بلاده وهو يعاني من صدمة فقده الحبيبة ويجد العلاج زواجه من فتاة اسمها إيمان زواجاً تقليدياً وبإختيار الأهل، تتوالى الأحداث في الرواية ليتعرف على فتاة أخرى اسمها ليلى كان يبحث من خلالها عن الحب، ولكنه كان حباً من طرف واحد، بقي على وفاء لها على الرغم من خيانتها له، ليفاجأ بها تقول له على سرير المرض "كنت اتمنى الموت لك ولكن ذلك أفضل لتظل تتعذب طوال حياتك يا أيها المشلول!!"، وأدرك اخيراً "هذا قدري؛ اللهم لا إعتراض"...
