أدين بمعرفتي بالقاص الفرنسي غي دو موباسان أبي القصة القصيرة العالمية لأستاذي في الصفين الثامن والعاشر في ثانوية جودة الهاشمي إذ نصحَنا في نهاية العام الدراسي 1958 – 1959 بقراءة موباسان في الصيف. وسمّى لنا عنوان المجموعة Contes Choisies فضحيتُ بأكثر من خمس ليرات وأنا الطالب الفقير آنذاك , وعدت بها إلى القرية، فترجمت بشق النفس طبعاً لفقري بالمفردات ست قصص منها أو سبعاً، نُشر أدين بمعرفتي بالقاص الفرنسي غي دو موباسان أبي القصة القصيرة العالمية لأستاذي في الصفين الثامن والعاشر في ثانوية جودة الهاشمي إذ نصحَنا في نهاية العام الدراسي 1958 – 1959 بقراءة موباسان في الصيف. وسمّى لنا عنوان المجموعة Contes Choisies فضحيتُ بأكثر من خمس ليرات وأنا الطالب الفقير آنذاك , وعدت بها إلى القرية، فترجمت بشق النفس طبعاً لفقري بالمفردات ست قصص منها أو سبعاً، نُشرت اثنتان منها في صفحة طلابية في جريدة دمشقية كان يشرف عليها صديقنا ممدوح قوموق الذي لا أتذكر الآن من أين كانت معرفتي به. وأعيد نشر إحداهما، وهي " المتسول" في العدد الأول من النشرة الثقافية لجمعية المقاصد الخيرية الشركسية عام 1960.
فلما وجدتُ نفسي متفرغاً إثْر إغلاق المعهد الفرنسي للشرق الأوسط حيث عملت في آخرِ تسعة عشر عاما
