الدكتور مجيد القيسي، ولد في بغداد 1951.
درس في كلية الآداب /قسم اللغة العربية 1968.
بعد تخرجه عمل مدرساً في متوسطة زرباطية، وثانوية الصويرة في محافظة واسط، وفي متوسطة الإدريسي، وثانوية عقبة بن نافع في بغداد.
غادر العراق وأقام في برلين، درس العلوم العربية والسامية في جامعة برلين الحرة 1979.

تشكل حرب الخليج الأولى حدثاً بارزاً في تاريخنا المعاصر. فالثورة الإيرانية اعتبرت الهجوم العراقي في أيلول/سبتمبر 1980 هجوماً على الإسلام بمساعدة الغرب. والواقع إن الكتابة عن حرب ماضية، مثل الحرب العراقية-الإيرانية، التي دامت ثمانية أعوام من القرن الماضي، لا تزال ذات أهمية كبيرة. فهي تعتبر"أمّاً" لحروب الخليج جميعاً. فقد أعقبتها حرب الكويت عام 1990، ثم تلاها احتلال العراق، و تشكل حرب الخليج الأولى حدثاً بارزاً في تاريخنا المعاصر. فالثورة الإيرانية اعتبرت الهجوم العراقي في أيلول/سبتمبر 1980 هجوماً على الإسلام بمساعدة الغرب. والواقع إن الكتابة عن حرب ماضية، مثل الحرب العراقية-الإيرانية، التي دامت ثمانية أعوام من القرن الماضي، لا تزال ذات أهمية كبيرة. فهي تعتبر"أمّاً" لحروب الخليج جميعاً. فقد أعقبتها حرب الكويت عام 1990، ثم تلاها احتلال العراق، وليس أخيراً، سقوط نظام البعث عام 2003 على يد قوات التحالف بزعامة الولايات المتحدة. إن احتلال العراق ما زال قائماً، وما زالت نتائجه مستمرة. ومما لا شك فيه أن ذلك الاحتلال جاء بالارتباط مع أحداث الحادي عشر من شهر أيلول/سبتمبر عام 2001 والحرب الأفغانية التي أعقبته. وبالرغم من أن هناك أسباباً كثيرة قد لعبت دوراً مهما في
