يعالج الجزء الأول من هذه الدراسة الدور الذي لعبه القصر في السياسة المصرية خلال الفترة من عام 1922 حتى عام 1936، أما الجزء الثاني فيتناول الفترة ما بين 1937حتى 1952، في محاولة لتقييم الجوانب السياسية والتاريخية لهذا الدور، وذلك من خلال علاقة القصر- كمؤسسة سياسية- بقوى الصراع السياسي الأخرى، ونعني بها الوجود البريطاني في مصر والأحزاب القومية على إختلاف نزاعاتها فضلاً عن مواقفه إزاء القضايا المتعددة وفي مقدمتها قضيتي الدستور والإستقلال. بالإضافة إلى ذلك فقد تناولت الدراسة تلك التغييرات السياسية والتشريعية التي تعرضت لها البلاد في تلك الفترة وإنعكاستها على الدور الذي لعبه القصر الملكي، وذلك دون إغفال للجهود التي بذلها فؤاد سلطاناً ثم ملكاً لتأصيل سلطة القصر وتعضيد نفوذه في الحكم، وينبغي في هذا الصدد أن نؤكد أن هذه الدراسة لا تعني بحال تعصباً للقصر في محاولة لإبراز مناقبه أو تحزباً عليه لإظهار مثالبه، فذلك أبعد ما يكون عن منهج البحث العلمي الصحيح، بل إن الهدف الرئيسي وتقييم دوره بجوانبه الإيجابية منها والسلبية من منطلق حيادي خالص، وقد تضمنت الخاتمة، ما انتهت إليه الدراسة من نتائج عن أبعاد الدور الذي لعبه القصر في السياسة المصرية إبان عهد فؤاد، مع تقييم شامل للجوانب الإيجابية والسلبية لهذا الدور، ولقد إعتمدت في هذه الدراسة على طائفة كبيرة من المصادر والدراسات المختلفة يمكن تقسيمها بصورة أساسية إلى، أولاً: المصادر الأصلية والمراجع المعاصرة: وهي مجموعة المصادر الوثائقية العربية والأجنبية، سواء المنشور منها أو غير المنشور، ثانياً: المؤلفات والبحوث والدراسات التاريخية.
