كاتب عميق وصادق في الرؤية والموقف النقدي، وكتابته ودودة ناعمة، لكنها لا تهادن ولا تخفض أجنحتها للسائد. إنها رواية جيدة جديرة بالقراءة والتأمل.
...لكن ما هو لافت وجميل في هذه الرواية، هي تفاصيل المشاهد وتضاريس الشخوص ولغة السرد المتعددة المتسويات والمتدفقة في تلقائية آسرة. إنها رواية توظف التناص، وتقترح ملامح من شخصيات موحية: الشاعر الأعشى، دونكيشوط، عثمان بيومي بطل "حضرة المحترم" لنجيب محفوظ، أكاكيفيتش بطل "المعطف لغوغول... وبذلك تغدو (بني ملال) حاضرة عبر أكثر من وجه ومنظور، لأن ماضيها –وتلك هي المفارقة- يحتفظ بصورة أجمل وأغنى من ما تبدو عليه حاضراً، وسرعان ما تتحول إلى استعارة تعلو على فضائها المحدود، لتلامس قلق وغربة وطموح الحالمين بفضاء أرحب أينما وجدوا.
