حضارة بلاد وادي الرافدين وأسرارها الدفينة هي الفضاء الروائي الذي تدور فيه أحداث رواية "آدم سامي – مور" للكاتب العراقي علاء مشذوب؛ والغاية من الإكتشافات العلمية؛ والتنقيب عن الآثار بالنسبة للبعثات البريطانية والأميركية هي العالم المرجعي الذي تحيل إليه أحداث الرواية. يقول المؤلف في (مدخل إلى عالم الرواية): "... في بداية القرن التاسع عشر جاءت بعثة أثرية (بريطانية – أميركية) مشتركة إلى مدينة تلالعبيد ومن ثم أور برئاسة الأستاذ (وولي) وطوال اثني عشر موسماً (1919، ثم من عام 1922 إلى 1943) اكتشفوا مجموعة كبيرة من الألواح السامي – مورية كانت مطمورة نتيجة تراكم البناء المستمر عليها ومن ثم تم تركها نتيجة ابتعاد المياه نحو الخليج. والرواية تقع في خمسة عشر لوحاً كُتبت بالحروف المسمارية، وكانت الألواح دون أسماء في نهاياتها، وبعضها دون عنوان، وجدت ممددة على رفوف داخل مكتبة، والأنكى من ذلك أن المصادر التاريخية لم تذكر عنها أي شيء، بل وحتى المصادر الحديثة خلت من أي إشارة لها. وكأن روايتنا هذه هي المصدر الوحيد لها على الرغم من أن مواقع مثل أوروك وكيش ولكشونيبور كثير من ملوك وآلهة هذه المناطق قد ذكرتها المصادر التاريخية (...) لكن الكشف الكبير كان في مدينة أور، فقد تم التنقيب فيها واكتشاف في أكثر من مكان مكتبة تحتوي على نصوص نثرية وشعرية، كانت في أغلبها تتكلم عن خلق الكون ...". وبدوره كراوي يجعل علاء مشذوب من المادة الخام والآثار البابلية الضاربة في القدم مادة روائية بعدما ينقيها من شوائبها ويصهرها في مصهر الفن الروائي ويعيد تشكيلها وفق رؤية خاصة، فكان أقرب إلى الفنان التشكيلي في رؤيته الفنية ورسمه للشخصيات والأدوات والتقنيات التي استخدمها في هذه العملية.
