مدينة الله للقديس اوغسطينس - المجلد الثاني
إنّنا نسمّي مدينة الله تلك التي يشهد لها الكتاب المقدّس، بما له من سلطة إلهيّة، قلّدته إيّاها العناية الإلهيّة ففاقت كلّ ما أنجزته سائر الأمم، وسيطرت على كلّ نوع من القوى العقليّة، حتّى قال فيها المزمور 86/3: "يحدَّثُ عنك بالمفاخر يا مدينة الله". وفي مزمور آخر 47/2-9: "الربّ عظيم ومسبَّح جدّاً في مدينة إلهنا، جبل قدسه، بهجة الأرض ك مدينة الله للقديس اوغسطينس - المجلد الثاني

تعرّفنا هذه الشهادات وكثير سواها، إذا ذكرناها، طال بنا الكلام، بوجود مدينة لله نتوق إلى أن نسكن فيها بالمحبّة التي يلهمنا إيّاها مؤسّسها، باني المدينة المقدّسة.
