كتب آلان باديو كتاباً جريئاً في طرحه، صادماً في تحليله، كثيفاً في مقاربته المفاهيمية، يُفكّك وينتقد الخطاب الإعلامي والسياسي الذي انتشر بعد هجمات باريس. لقد كان الطرح المركزي للرجل واضحاً؛ هناك بنية تتحكم في العالم نتجت عن هيمنة رأس المال الذي تجاوز أفق الدولة، سواء كانت داعمة أم وطنية أم عميلة، لكي يخلق مناطق كبرى تُدار بمنطق العصابات. أقلية تملك كل شيء، وطبقة وسطى تتقاسم الفتات، وحشود هائلة من البشر لا مكان لها في العالم، لا يمكن أن تترك العالم يعيش في «أمان». إن المذبحة ليست «حدثاً» بالمعنى العميق للكلمة؛ إنها اكتمال لما ينمو بشكل طبيعي في عالم كهذا على شكل حقد وكراهية ناجمين عن حبٍّ محبطٍ للمثال نفسه؛ «المتعة الاستهلاكية» داخل عالم لا يسمح إلا لقلّة في أن تبلغ هذا المبتغى العام للآلة الرأسمالية. هدفنا من تقديم أطروحة باديو للقارئ العربي، لا اتفاقاً مع كل تفصيلاتها، ولا موافقةً على البدائل «الطوبائية» الثورية التي يلمح إليها، وإنما إسماعاً لصوت متفرّد قوي في ساحة لم تعد تحتمل الاختلاف والتميّز، ولا ترضى حاجزاً بين تفسير الظواهر وتبريرها.
