يحتوي الكتاب على خمسة فصول وخاتمة. الفصل الأول هو: "مفهوم المجتمع المدني وخصائصه"، والثاني هو : "جذور المجتمع المدني وتطوره في الوطن العربي" والثالث هو: "مؤسسات المجتمع المدني العربي"، والرابع هو :"مشكلات المجتمع المدني"، أما الخامس فهو: "مستقبل المجتمع المدني ووسائل تفعيله في الوطن العربي".
