ينقسم الكتاب إلى بابين يحتوي كل منهما على ثلاثة فصول. يتناول الباب الأول موضوعات: جذور العنف، وصور العنف، وتجليات الحياة العنيفة، من خلال التركيز على موضوعات المجتمع والفرد والمثقف والمرأة والخوف. أما الباب الثاني فيدرس تقنيات سردية منها: العنونة والتناص والصوت السردي، من خلال التحليل النقدي لجوانب في عدد من الروايات لكتاب من الجزائر منهم:
واسيني الأعرج – مرزاق بقطاش – رشي ينقسم الكتاب إلى بابين يحتوي كل منهما على ثلاثة فصول. يتناول الباب الأول موضوعات: جذور العنف، وصور العنف، وتجليات الحياة العنيفة، من خلال التركيز على موضوعات المجتمع والفرد والمثقف والمرأة والخوف. أما الباب الثاني فيدرس تقنيات سردية منها: العنونة والتناص والصوت السردي، من خلال التحليل النقدي لجوانب في عدد من الروايات لكتاب من الجزائر منهم:
واسيني الأعرج – مرزاق بقطاش – رشيد بوجدرة – مراد بوكرزازة – محمد ساري – عبد الملك مرتاض – احميدة عياشي – أحلام مستغانمي – بشير مفتي – الطاهر وطار.
ومما جاء في مقدمة الدراسة:
"تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى التواصل الأدبي بين المشرق والمغرب العربي، عن طريق سد ثغرة في المكتبة المشرقية التي تعاني افتقاراً شديداً إلى الدراسات النقدية عن الرواية المغاربية. في الرواية الجزائرية المعاصرة استثمرت العديد من المقاربات الإبداعية التي تفاوتت من حيث المستوى الفني – في النجاح سواء في تصويرها ظاهرة العنف، بوصفها موضوعاً، أو في تقديمه بوصفه نصاً روائياً".
