يقدم كتاب <<الشبكة الإنسانية>>، الذي ينتمي إلى مبحث التاريخ العالمي، رؤية للتاريخ الإنساني تُبرز أنماط التعاون والصراع بين جماعات البشر المختلفة عبر شبكات الاتصال والتفاعل التي تشكَّلت بينهم قديما، وأخذت تزداد كثافة وإحكاما على مر السنين، وبفضلها انتقلت الأفكار والتقنيات والطموحات بين الجماعات البشرية، وأدمجت كل الجماعات في شبكة عالمية موحدة تُمثِّل دوَّامة من الاتصال والتفاعل المتواصلين. فمن خلال الشبكات تعارَف البشرُ وتعاونوا وتنافسوا وتصارعوا، ما أسهم في تقدم المجموع. وقد انتقل مركز الشبكة - أو الشبكات - الذي نسميه الحضارات من منطقة إلى أخرى، بدءا من ممر <<النيل -السند>> ومع كل انتقال، كانت الشبكة تزداد إحكاما وكثافة وتزيد المجتمع الإنساني تعقيدا - أي تحضرا - حتى وصلنا إلى الحضارة الإنسانية المعاصرة التي تُعَد نتاجا لإسهام كل الثقافات والأمم.
