حظيت الإستعارة في العهود الأخيرة بإهتمام بالغ الدلالة من لدن الباحثين من مختلف الجهات، حيث أصبح التصنيف فيها يشغل حيزاً كبيراً من رفوف المكتبات العالمية، ومن ثم لم يعد بمقدور الفرد الواحد الإلمام بكل ما قيل عنها، وتتبع الدراسات التي أنجزت حولها بكل دقة.
وهذا ليس غريباً، ذلك أن الإستعارة لم تعد حكراً على مجالي الأدب والبلاغة بل أصبحت موضوع إهتمام علماء النفس، وعلماء الإجتماع، والأنثروبولوجيين، والمناطقة، والسينمائيين، والتشكيليين، ومؤرخي الفلسفة والعلوم الدقيقة.
ولعل ذلك يرجع إلى كون الإستعارة تعد جزءاً من البنية التصورية للإنسان؛ إذ من خلالها يدرك الفرد العالم، ويتفاعل معه، إنه يحيا بها على حد تعبير لايكوف وجونسون.
وقد ظهرت مقاربات لسانية للإستعارة شملت خصائصها التركيبية والدلالية والتداولية، وتشكلت نظريات لتحليل الإستعارة هي: النظرية الإستبدالية والنظرية التفاعلية، والنظرية التداولية والحجاجية والمعرفية، وهي نظريات تكشف أن الإستعارة حمالة أوجه، ولها صلة وثيقة بوجود الإنسان وكينونته من خلال سؤال المعنى المنفلت بإستمرار، والذي يتطلب متابعة دقيقة في ضوء مقاربات متنوعة ومتكاملة تقتفي آثاره المتجذرة في التفكير الإنساني، والمتجلية في الأساليب اللغوية والكلام الحادي في الأسواق ومختلف الأدلة السيميائية.
