تنهض قصص "نُكات للمسلّحين" للشاعر والقاص الفلسطيني مازن معروف على مبدأ الإيحاء والإيماء أكثر من التقرير والتصريح؛ وبقدرة فائقة على إنتاج صور مبعثرة، ومتشظية، يقولها على لسان طفل في علاقته بأبيه، وهي علاقة مشوشة " أصبحنا نقضي وقتاً أكثر أنا وأبي. ورغم أنها كانت فترة حداد على أخي الأصمّ، إلا أنه كان علينا أنا وأبي أن نؤلف معاً النكات ، نكات للأسبوع. نكتة لكل يوم. للمسلحين فقط". ربما يكون الكاتب هنا اراد وضعنا على محك العلاقة بين ما نلتقطه من النص المقروء، وما نضيف إليه من تأويلاتنا، وهي إحدى رهانات الكتابة القصصية الحديثة، فالقراءة هي أحد أوجهها هي عملية استباق للمعنى؛ وهي من هذا المنظور الوظيفي عملية استباق لمعنى مؤمن أو موحى به. فالطفل (السارد) لا يكتفي بإخراج النكات من واقعه، إلا أنه يهتم بعناصر تأديتها أو قصها على أساس التأليف المضاد لمنطق مغاير لها، فهو من أجل أن يركب سرديته أو نكاته، يستنتج اللامعقول من النكات "على الرغم من أنني أمضيت جل حياتي لا أجيد الإبتسام، بت الآن أعرف بأنني الرجل القادر على قتل الناس بدعابته".
هكذا بلغة يغلب فيها السرد على الحوار، ويتوشح فيها الخيال بشيء من التصوير، ويخفف من موضوعيتها بعض الكاريكاتور، يصوغ مازن معروف قصصه الجديدة هذه، ولنقرأها كيفما شئنا.
تضم المجموعة أربعة عشر قصة قصيرة جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: نكات للمسلحين" ، "ماتادور" ، "غراموفون" ، "نكتة" ، "سينما" ، "بسكويت" ، "الحمّال" ، "سيندروم" ، "أحلام الآخرين" ، "أكواريوم" (...) وقصص أخرى.
