يحكي "جِن" ذو الست أعوام بطل السلسلة في الجزء الأول من عشرة أجزاء الأحداث التي أدت إلى القصف الذري على هيروشيما. وعلى لسان أبوه المناهض للحرب والإمبراطور الياباني حينها يعرض كيف تم استغلال الوطنية في أعمال وحشية وقتل المزيد من المواطنين.
