أبو عبد الرحمن محمد بن عمر بن عبد الرحمن بن عقيل (المعروف بأبي عبد الرحمن ابن عقيل الظاهري) هو عالم سلفي ظاهري وأديب سعودي. من مواليد مدينة شقراء في إقليم الوشم بمنطقة نجد من المملكة العربية السعودية عام 1357 هـ. هو عالم بالقرآن وتفسيره وعالم بحديث الرسول محمد بصحيحه وضعيفه، وفقيه وأصولي وأديب ومتقن لعلم الكلام والفلسفة. اشتهر الشيخ ابن عقيل باهتمامه بكتب الإمام علي بن حزم الأندلسي تحقيقاً وترجمةً أبو عبد الرحمن محمد بن عمر بن عبد الرحمن بن عقيل (المعروف بأبي عبد الرحمن ابن عقيل الظاهري) هو عالم سلفي ظاهري وأديب سعودي. من مواليد مدينة شقراء في إقليم الوشم بمنطقة نجد من المملكة العربية السعودية عام 1357 هـ. هو عالم بالقرآن وتفسيره وعالم بحديث الرسول محمد بصحيحه وضعيفه، وفقيه وأصولي وأديب ومتقن لعلم الكلام والفلسفة. اشتهر الشيخ ابن عقيل باهتمامه بكتب الإمام علي بن حزم الأندلسي تحقيقاً وترجمةً لابن حزم نفسه. يسمى بالظاهري لانتسابه للمدرسة الظاهرية والتي يتمسك أتباعها بالكتاب والسنة وفق رؤيتهم، وينبذون الرأي كله من قياس واستحسان.
