بیژن نجدی در نوشتن و سرودن پرکار، اما در انتشار دادن کمتر فعال و پیگیر بود، اما همان ده داستان کوتاهی که نخستین کتاب منتشر شدۀ او را تشکیل دادند (یوزپلنگانی که با من دویده اند) کافی بودند تا جامعۀ ادبی ایران قدر او را بداند، کمیت را به جای کیفیت نگیرد، و خصلت متمایز و ممتاز داستان های او را تشخیص دهد. نجدی قرار بود به دیگر نوشته هایش هم سروسامانی بدهد و آن ها را آمادۀ انتش بیژن نجدی در نوشتن و سرودن پرکار، اما در انتشار دادن کمتر فعال و پیگیر بود، اما همان ده داستان کوتاهی که نخستین کتاب منتشر شدۀ او را تشکیل دادند (یوزپلنگانی که با من دویده اند) کافی بودند تا جامعۀ ادبی ایران قدر او را بداند، کمیت را به جای کیفیت نگیرد، و خصلت متمایز و ممتاز داستان های او را تشخیص دهد. نجدی قرار بود به دیگر نوشته هایش هم سروسامانی بدهد و آن ها را آمادۀ انتشار سازد، اما متأسفانه دست تقدیر تحقق این امر را در حیات او میسر نساخت. در کتاب حاضر برخی از داستان های بازمانده از او، که به همت همسر همدل وی آمادۀ نشر شده، گرد آمده اند. داستان های ناتمام بازمانده از او نیز در مجموعۀ دیگری با نام «داستان های ناتمام» انتشار یافته است.
