رمان سفر به انتهای شب، یکی از بزرگترین شاهکارهای ادبیات فرانسه است. هنگامی که دکتر لویی فردینان سلین در سن ۳۸ سالگی دستنویس رمان خود: «سفر به انتهای شب» را برای چاپ فرستاد، ناشرش او را همتای شکسپیر و دانته و… خواند و رمان فروش زیادی کرد.
