المجلد الثاني من الكِتاب الذي يضم بمجلديه أكثر من 250 رسالة تتناول جميع مراحل حياة الكاتب، أولها أرسلها إلى أمه وهو في الثانية عشرة من العمر وآخرها أملاها على زوجته وهو على سرير الموت.
يقول المترجم عن هذا المشروع الأدبي الفائق الأهمية: "دوستويفسكي أعلن مراراً أنه لا يجيد ولا يحب كتابة الرسائل. وربما لذلك تحديداً جاءت رسائله بصيغة غير مألوفة تماماً. وأنا لا أخشى توصيفها "با المجلد الثاني من الكِتاب الذي يضم بمجلديه أكثر من 250 رسالة تتناول جميع مراحل حياة الكاتب، أولها أرسلها إلى أمه وهو في الثانية عشرة من العمر وآخرها أملاها على زوجته وهو على سرير الموت.
يقول المترجم عن هذا المشروع الأدبي الفائق الأهمية: "دوستويفسكي أعلن مراراً أنه لا يجيد ولا يحب كتابة الرسائل. وربما لذلك تحديداً جاءت رسائله بصيغة غير مألوفة تماماً. وأنا لا أخشى توصيفها "بالروايات المصغرة". ففي الرسالة الواحدة، سواء كانت بعشر صفحات أو ببضعة سطور، كل مقومات المنمنمة الروائية من توطئة وحبكة وحدث وإثارة وما إلى ذلك.
ولعلي أقول أيضاً أن رسائل المجلدين تمثل أعظم رواية وثائقية في تاريخ الأدب العالمي تضم 250 فصلاً وبطلها الرئيسي فيودور دوستويفسكي نفسه، وأبطالها الثانويون أخوه ميخائيل وزوجته الأولى ماريا عيسايفا وزوجته الثانية آنـّا غريعوريفنا والعشرات من الشخصيات الإجتماعية ورموز الأدب الروسي في عصره الذهبي.
فجاءت الرسائل بمثابة دائرة معارف تختلف عن سائر الإنسكوبيديات التي يقرأ المرء منها ما يحتاج إليه فقط من مقالات، بينما يعجز عن غلق "إنسكوبيديا دوستويفسكي" ما لم يقرأها جملة وتفصيلاً، من أول رسالة حتى آخر رسالة. ففي كل رسالة أكثر من جديد.”
ويواصل الضامن حديثه: “ أؤكد على الأهمية العملية لرسائل دوستويفسكي، وخصوصاً في المراحل المبكرة من حياته. فقد كانت بمثابة المختبر الأدبي التجريبي لشحذ موهبته وطاقاته الإبداعية. ولذا يخيل إلي انها لعبت دوراً كبيراً في خلق كاتب مميز ليس كبقية الكُتّاب. وقد أمضيت سنة في ترجمتها هي من أفضل سنوات العمر".
