يستعرض الكتاب ابرز منجزات الحزب الشيوعي العراقي بعد انتخاب سلام عادل سكرتيرا للجنته المركزية عام 1955 وأهمها :
* وحدة الحركة الشيوعية العراقية ورص صفوف الحزب على أسس مبدئية بتطبيق قواعد النظام الداخلي للحزب.
* رسم سياسة وطنية صائبة كأساس متين لتوحيد القوى الوطنية وقيام جبهة الأتحاد الوطني عام 1957 .
* تعزيز مكانة الحزب الأممية
لقد أدت تلك الاجراءات الى تصعيد دور الحزب الشيوعي يستعرض الكتاب ابرز منجزات الحزب الشيوعي العراقي بعد انتخاب سلام عادل سكرتيرا للجنته المركزية عام 1955 وأهمها :
* وحدة الحركة الشيوعية العراقية ورص صفوف الحزب على أسس مبدئية بتطبيق قواعد النظام الداخلي للحزب.

لقد أدت تلك الاجراءات الى تصعيد دور الحزب الشيوعي العراقي في التهيئة والتحضير لقيام ثورة 14 تموز الوطنية عام 1958، بالتنسيق مع القوى والاحزاب الوطنية وحركة الضباط الأحرار.
يتناول الكتاب بالتفصيل سياسة الحزب بعد نجاح الثورة ودوره في انتصارها وترسيخ حكمها كما يستعرض ابرز المؤامرات الاستعمارية لاجهاض الثورة. ويتطرق الى الخلافات الفكرية داخل قيادة الحزب، مستندا الى وثائق رسمية معتمدة ونصوص بعض محاضر اجتماعات الهيئات القيادية للحزب، حيث تم نشرها في نهاية الكتاب كمراجع موثقة
