الشيخ مصطفى عبد الرازق ولد فى أعقاب الإحتلال الإنجليزى لمصر ودخل الأزهر حتى أصبح الإمام الأكبر له ولكنه تأثر بدروس ومحاضرات الشيخ محمد عبده التنويرية فكان له آراءه افصلاحية وقد إتخذ المنهج العقلى لفهم الدين الإسلامى كذلك درس فى السوربون وعرف الكثير من الأفكار المدنية مثل أفكار أحمد لطفى السيد وقاسم أمين إلا أن هذا الشيخ لم ينل قدرة من التقويم والعرفان وهذا الكتاب. هو محاول الشيخ مصطفى عبد الرازق ولد فى أعقاب الإحتلال الإنجليزى لمصر ودخل الأزهر حتى أصبح الإمام الأكبر له ولكنه تأثر بدروس ومحاضرات الشيخ محمد عبده التنويرية فكان له آراءه افصلاحية وقد إتخذ المنهج العقلى لفهم الدين الإسلامى كذلك درس فى السوربون وعرف الكثير من الأفكار المدنية مثل أفكار أحمد لطفى السيد وقاسم أمين إلا أن هذا الشيخ لم ينل قدرة من التقويم والعرفان وهذا الكتاب. هو محاولة للترعيف بشخصية ذات عقلية تنويرية إسلامية نشأت فى عصر إنتشرت فيه الخرافات والخزعبلات. فيتضمن الكتاب تعريف بآراءه الإصلاحية وإسهاماته الفلسفية كذلك يحتوى على بعض من مذكراته مثل مذكرات مسافر ، مقيم، صفحات من سفر الحياة.
