كان الخوف من الزلة في كلام الله يوشك أن يبعدني عن هذا المقام لولا أنني رأيت الله سبحانه وتعالى ندبنا إلى التدبر في آياته وأنه سبحانه يغفر للعاملين في كتابه وتفسيره، وبيان حلاله وحرامه إذا اجتهدوا، وصبروا، وصدقوا، وأخلصوا، وكل ذلك لا يكون إلا منه، وبحوله، وطوله، وتوفيقه، وإنعامه، فعزم أمري على أخذ نفسي بالاجتهاد والصبر والصدق والانقطاع والتجرد، ومددت يدي إليه ليعتني على تحقيق ذلك، ثم مضيت برغبة شديدة أن أقدم شيئاً للأجيال القادمة.
وقد رأيت في هذا الزمن الغريب الذي أنكره كثيراً ممن ليسوا من أهل التفسير ولا الفقه ولا اللغة وليس لهم صلة بأي علم من علومنا يقحمون أنفسهم على الكتاب ويدخلون فيه ويستخرجون ما يتصادم مع حقائق الشريعة وما عرف من الدين بالضرورة وما يتصادم مع صريح السنة وما يتصادم مع صريح الكتاب، فكرهت الإحجام، وكرهت أن يتقدم أهل الباطل وأن يتأخر أهل الحق وهم حملة اللواء.
