هذا الكتاب يقدم دراسة وثائقية عن تاريخ شركة النفط الإنجليزية-الفارسية (Anglo-Persian Oil Company)، ودورها في إمارات الخليج العربية (الكويت، والبحرين، وقطر، ومسقط وعمان، وإمارات الساحل المتصالح)، وذلك من خلال أربعة فصول رئيسة. يلقي الفصل الأول منها الضوء على نشأة الشركة وأهدافها الاستراتيجية، ودورها في البحث والتنقيب عن النفط والمعادن في إمارات الخليج العربية؛ ويحلل الفصل ا هذا الكتاب يقدم دراسة وثائقية عن تاريخ شركة النفط الإنجليزية-الفارسية (Anglo-Persian Oil Company)، ودورها في إمارات الخليج العربية (الكويت، والبحرين، وقطر، ومسقط وعمان، وإمارات الساحل المتصالح)، وذلك من خلال أربعة فصول رئيسة. يلقي الفصل الأول منها الضوء على نشأة الشركة وأهدافها الاستراتيجية، ودورها في البحث والتنقيب عن النفط والمعادن في إمارات الخليج العربية؛ ويحلل الفصل الثاني العلاقات التي جمعت بين الشركة وبين حكام إمارات الخليج العربية من طرف، والحكومة البريطانية من طرفٍ ثان. ويعرض الفصلان الثالث والرابع امتيازات عقود النفط التي أبرمتها الشركة مع قطر، ومسقط وعمان، وإمارات الساحل المتصالح (الإمارات العربية).
ويناقش الكتاب مراحل التنافس الإمبريالي بين شركة النفط الإنجليزية- الفارسية وشركات النفط الأمريكية في الخليج، وكيف أثر ذلك التنافس في تحجيم دور الشركة، وتقليص نصيبها في عقود امتيازات النفط التي أبرمتها الشركة مع شيوخ إمارات الخليج العربية إلى نسبة 35%، وكيف اختفى اسم الشركة تدريجيا من ساحة المضاربات النفطية، بعد أن حلت محلها شركة بترول العراق، وأفرعها التي كانت تحمل أسماءً ذات صبغة محلية، مثل شركة تنمية بترول قطر المحدودة (Petroleum Development- Qatar- Ltd)، وشركة تنمية بترول عمان وظفار المحدودة (Petroleum Development- Oman and Dhofar- Ltd)، وشركة تنمية بترول الساحل المتصالح المحدودة (Petroleum Development- Trucial Coast- Ltd).
