تكمن أهمية هذا البحث في جمع التراث بصفة عامة، وتراث التفسير بصفة خاصة، ليصبح بعد عملية الجمع والتوثيق مادة علمية صالحة للدراسة والتحليل والاستنتاج؛ خصوصًا أن ما تم جمعه لحد الآن من تراث التفسير ليس سوى قليل من كثير. ومن ثم ما زالت فهوم كثيرة لكتاب الله تعالى غائبة عن الساحة العلمية الحديثة ، وما زالت أماكنها شاغرة في المكتبات الإسلامية. فكان هذا البحث لجمع تفسير علَم من أع تكمن أهمية هذا البحث في جمع التراث بصفة عامة، وتراث التفسير بصفة خاصة، ليصبح بعد عملية الجمع والتوثيق مادة علمية صالحة للدراسة والتحليل والاستنتاج؛ خصوصًا أن ما تم جمعه لحد الآن من تراث التفسير ليس سوى قليل من كثير. ومن ثم ما زالت فهوم كثيرة لكتاب الله تعالى غائبة عن الساحة العلمية الحديثة ، وما زالت أماكنها شاغرة في المكتبات الإسلامية. فكان هذا البحث لجمع تفسير علَم من أعلام العرب والإسلام - وهو حجة الإسلام أبي حامد الغزالي الذي اهتم به الباحثون من عدة جوانب؛ اهتموا به فقيهًا وأصوليًّا وفيلسوفًا ومتصوفًا، لكن لم يسبق لأحدهم - حسب علمي - أن اهتم بأبي حامد الغزالي مفسرًا، أضف إلى ذلك أن بعض العلماء أجمعوا على وجود تفسير واحد للإمام الغزالي .. ولا يعلم عن هذا التفسير شيئًا، وأرجو أن يقرب هذا التفسير المجموع من تفسير الإمام الغزالي المفقود.
