منذ الثمانينات، ترك الدكتور كمال الصليبي مجاله كأستاذ للتاريخ الحديث. وراح يقرأ الكتب المقدسة، عائداً إلى اللغات القديمة، من عبرانية ويونانية. أما الأساس الذي انطلق منه فهو أننا لا نجد الأسماء الموجودة في هذه الكتابات، لا نجدها في فلسطين التي نعرفها اليوم، ولا في لبنان الساحلي، أي فينيقيا، ولا في سورية مع عاصمتها دمشق. كل هذا صار في الجزيرة العربية وصولاً إلى اليمن. ضاعت صور وصيدا، كما ضاعت أورشليم ودمشق وسائر المدن، صغيرها وكبيرها. وهكذا يكون المصدر الأول للوحي، الجزيرة العربية، حيث راح يهوذا (يوضاس) ينهي أيامه في حياة وادعة، كمزارع بسيط. ويسوع نفسه انطلق من هناك فأتي إلى فلسطين حيث مات. فيسوع غير المسيح. وأمه لا تدعى مريم، ويهوذا هو أفضل صديق ليسوع. وهكذا وجب على الحجاج الآتين إلى القدس وغيرها من المدن، أن يمضوا إلى اليمن وما يجاورها.
ماذا يقول الكتاب المقدس، العهد القديم؟ وماذا تقول الأناجيل؟ وهكذا عاد المؤلف إلى النصوص، وهو الذي ترجم الكتاب المقدس برفقة الشاعر يوسف الخال، وما اكتفى بقراءة الحرف، بل البحث عن الروح الذي يساعدنا لكي تكون كلمة الله عزاءً للمؤمنين، على ما قال بطرس للرب: "إلى من نذهب، يا ربنا، وكلام الحياة الأبدية عندك؟"
من أجل هذا كان الرد على كمال الصليبي.
