"النمور الآسيوية"، تعبير باتت تتناقله وسائل الإعلام، والإتصال الثقافي، وفي رأس لائحة هذه النمور اليابان والصين؛ والشنتوية: ديانة وثقافة أغلب اليابانيين تمثل حالة تراكم للتراث الحضاري لهذه الأمة، وهي غير منسوبة في أساس نشأتها لشخص بعينه، وإنما هي تراث اليابان كلها.
الكونفوشية: بلوَر صياغة مشروعها الديني الإصلاحي كونفوشيوس في القرن السادس قبل الميلاد، ولكنها ليست من إبتكاره بقدر ما هي صياغة لما كان يسود الصين من فلسفات وأفكار، لهذا إلتزمها أهل الصين ولا يزالون على مدى خمسة وعشرين قرناً، وبات يصعب الحديث عن الصين دون الكونفوشية.
لهذا، تكون دراسة واقع الشنتوية في اليابان، والكونفوشية في الصين، من الضروريات من أجل معرفة القيم السائدة في هذه المجتمعات، وتلمُّس مبادئ ثقافتها الدينية، هذا بالإضافة إلى ما في هذه الثقافة من عوامل أسهمت في المنحى الجدي لشعوبها، كما أنها حفظت وحدة مجتمعاتهم الوطنية لقرون طويلة ولا تزال من أية هزَّة أو تصدع.
ويأتي هذا العمل ضمن سلسلة "من قاموس الأديان" التي تساهم بتعريف القارئ العربي بعقائد وشرائع الشعوب التي يتعاطى معها، وهذا أمر مفيد للدعاة والإدارة المصالح وللعلاقات بين الدول والشعوب.
