يتتبع فيها الكاتب المراحل المختلفة لهذه السيطرة ( الآلة على الإنسان ) بدءًا من ظهور التلفزيون وصولًاإلى الحيوات الافتراضية -التي أضحت بديلًا للحياة الحقيقية عند كثير من الناس – من جانب ، ومن الجانب الآخر استخدام العلم للتوصّل إلى كيفية إخضاع الإنسان لهذه السيطرة بإرادته وبدون وعي منه !!
فقد بذل علم النّفس، من الوقت والمال، على دراسة التحكّم في الفرد والتّأثير عليه، أضعاف ما أنفق على زيادة استقلاله الذّاتي، وتحكّمه في صياغة رأيه وذوقه و هو ما تحاول الدراسة تتبعه ثمّ إثباته و تفنيده بالأدلة و إسقاطه على الواقع ..
في آخر هذا العمل قد تشعر أنكَ أمام رواية مأسوية النهاية و ربما تشعر أنها ضرْبٌ من الخيال ولكنك سرعان ما تكتشف أن مأساويتها من أجل واقعيتها و إيغالها في وصف الحقيقة !!
