يُعنى هذا الكتاب بدراسة الوجود الاجتماعي والسياسي والاقتصادي والثقافي والديني لكلٍّ من المسيحيين والمسلمين في منطقة الشرق الأفريقي السياسي، الذي يضم دول "إيغاد" "IGAD" التي هي: السودان، إثيوبيا، إريتريا، جيبوتي ، الصومال، كينيا، أوغندا، علاوة على تانزانيا التي لها قواسم تاريخية وإثنية مشتركة مع هذه الدول، رغم أنها ليست عضواً في نادي "إيغاد".
ولعلّ الإشكالية الأساسية التي يع يُعنى هذا الكتاب بدراسة الوجود الاجتماعي والسياسي والاقتصادي والثقافي والديني لكلٍّ من المسيحيين والمسلمين في منطقة الشرق الأفريقي السياسي، الذي يضم دول "إيغاد" "IGAD" التي هي: السودان، إثيوبيا، إريتريا، جيبوتي ، الصومال، كينيا، أوغندا، علاوة على تانزانيا التي لها قواسم تاريخية وإثنية مشتركة مع هذه الدول، رغم أنها ليست عضواً في نادي "إيغاد".
ولعلّ الإشكالية الأساسية التي يعالجها هذا الكتاب تخصّ تاريخ المسيحيين والمسلمين في تلك المنطقة، وإن يكن التركيز يقع على العصر الحديث، وبخاصة منذ القرن الثامن عشر إلى يومنا هذا.
وفي إطار العلاقات المسيحية-الإسلامية، في تلك المنطقة، وما يدور من حروب داخلية أو بينية، في بعض دولها، كالصومال، والسودان، وأوغندا، يرفض الكاتب المزاعم التي توحي بأن شرق أفريقيا يعاني حروباً مسيحية-إسلامية، ويرى ضرورة إعطاء تلك الحروب الجارية تفسيراً آخر غير ذلك التفسير الديني، وذلك باعتبار أن وراء تلك الحروب أسباباً أخرى، اقتصادية أو سياسية أو اجتماعية.
