وان گوگ به نقاشي دست زد، زيرا در پي يافتن وسيلهاي بود كه با آن ((عطش دروني)) خود را فرونشاند. اگر نگوييم كه بار رسالتي بر پشت داشت، باري نگريز به تصور اين معنائيم كه سرچشمه نيرويي قهار، نظير همان نيرويي كه در شكم كوه آتشفشان است، در نهاد او بود و او ميبايست دهانهاي بيابد تا راه آن را به بيرون بگشايد.
