لا يعرف الكثير من الناس، أن اليهود افترقوا على فرق كثيرة متعددة، كما افترق المسلمون والمسيحيون. ولقد كان انشقاق بعض هذه الفرق مبكراً في تاريخ اليهودية، وكان منها ما اندثر واختفى، ولم يبقَ منها إلا أخبارها يتلوها علينا التاريخ ويحدثنا عنها. ومنها ما استمر في البقاء إلى العصر الحاضر. وفرقة القرائين، هي واحدة هذه الفرق ،التي ظلَّت باقية إلى يومنا هذا، بعد أن مرَّ على ظهورها، لا يعرف الكثير من الناس، أن اليهود افترقوا على فرق كثيرة متعددة، كما افترق المسلمون والمسيحيون. ولقد كان انشقاق بعض هذه الفرق مبكراً في تاريخ اليهودية، وكان منها ما اندثر واختفى، ولم يبقَ منها إلا أخبارها يتلوها علينا التاريخ ويحدثنا عنها. ومنها ما استمر في البقاء إلى العصر الحاضر. وفرقة القرائين، هي واحدة هذه الفرق ،التي ظلَّت باقية إلى يومنا هذا، بعد أن مرَّ على ظهورها، أكثر من ألف ومائتي سنة. ويعتبر انشقاق فرقة القرائين عن اليهودية، وانفصالها عنها في القرن الثاني الهجري / الثامن الميلادي، حدثاً من الأحداث الكبرى في تاريخ اليهودية. وكان من الممكن، أن تصبح هذه الفرقة من أكبر الفرق اليهودية على الإطلاق، لولا أسباب معينة – سنذكرها في ثنايا هذا البحث – حالت دون ذلك، وجعلت
