لغسان كنفاني في عنقي دين كبير... واصلت العمل في "الهدف" بعد إستشهاده... وكان في ذلك شيء من الوفاء... وكتبت عنه في مناسبات عديدة... لكن ذلك أقل بكثير مما أشعر أنه يستحقه...
قرأت الكثير مما كتب عنه... وكان فيه الجيّد، وحتى الجيّد جداً... لكنني، مع ذلك، كنت أشعر دائماً أن الذين يكتبون عنه يأخذون منه أكثر مما يعطونه، فالكتابة عند تبدو كأنها تعريف بصاحبها أكثر منها تعريفاً بغسان!!.
أتاح لي وجودي في باريس لفترة طويلة أن ألتقي بالكثير من الأخوة الفلسطينيين القادمين من الداخل... من حيفا، ويافا وغزة، والقدس، والناصرة، ورام الله وغيرها... وكثيراً - بل دائماً - ما كان يرد في أحاديثنا ذكر غسان وأيامنا المشتركة في "الهدف" و"الجبهة"... فكانوا بمعظمهم يعتبون عليّ لعدم تسجيل تلك الأيام كتابة... وعندما فاتحت أحدهم بحقيقة الحرج الذي يشكل حاجزاً بيني وبين القيام بذلك، أجابني بقدر من الغضب والمرارة قائلاً: "إذا كنتم أنتم، الذين عشتم مع غسان عن قرب، ستمتنعون عن الكتابة، فمن الذي سيكتب؟ الذين لم يعرفوه؟ أكتب يا أخي... سجّل تلك الأيام كما عشتموها وليكن ما يكون... ولا عيب في ظهورك فيها... فهي أيامكم معاً... أيامك كما هي أيامه وأيام رفاقكما الآخرين...".
وأخيراً - وربما نتيجة كل ما أشرت إليه - بدأ ينمو في خاطري، بشكل متسارع، نوع من الإندفاع نحو الكتابة، وصل إلى حدّ لم يعد بمقدوري أن أقاومه... فبدأت... دون أي تقدير لطبيعة ما أنا عازم عليه:
-هل هو مذكرات؟.
-هل هو تاريخ؟.
-هل هو رواية؟.
-هل هو مجرد خواطر؟.
ربما هو شيء من كل هذه الأشياء معاً!!...
