يأتي هذا الكتاب من ضمن إشكاليات "جان لا بلانش" أستاذ علم النفس المرضي والتحليل النفسي في جامعة السوربون، ويتناول لا بلانش في إشكالياته مفاهيم القلق، اللاوعي والسهو (ca)، البعد – حين، خابية النقلة، التسامي والبيولوجيات والبيولوجية، وهذه المفاهيم تعتبر قاعدة في التحليل النفسي وعدّة العمل المفاهيمي لطالب علم النفس العيادي. وهذا الكتاب يبحث في "الخصاء – الترميز" ويتضمن عدة محاضرات ألقاها الدكتور لا بلانش على طلاب جامعة السوربون في الفترة (73-74-1975) في موضوعة الخصاء – الترميز من خلال دراسية للنزوة وعلاقتها بالقلق مع ما يرافق ذلك من دراسة للقواعد الأخلاقية على مستوى التحليل النفسي وتأثيرها على الفرد. يعطي لا بلانش "أهمية قصوى لرموز الطقوس التي تُغير الفرد للدخول في الجماعة من خلال عدة أوجه، تفتح الرموز شيئاً جديداً بالنسبة لمركب الأوديب. إنها تدخل رمزية مبهمة ومتجاذبة تصل إلى حد الثنائية الجنسية وهي بذلك أكثر إبهاماً وتجاذباً وثنائية جنسية. وهذا ما لم يستطع فرويد أن يراه فيها! مع تباين وحيد عن منطق الرمز الخصائي الذي لا يعرف إلا ثنائية واحدة، الرمز وغيابه، رمز الخصاء والطقوس المرتبطة بالرمز تبدو كأنها تشي برمزين وتدونهما في آن واحد، الرمز الذكوري بالتأكيد ولكن أيضاً الرمز الذكوري الإيجابي والموجب أيضاً. هذه المعمليات الترميزية لا يمكن أن تنحصر بعملية طرح فقط، إنها أيضاً عملية خلقٍ تؤدي إلى إدخال منطلقٍ يشير إلى الدفعة، البصمة أكثر من إشارته إلى الإختلاف" جان لا بلانش.
