كتب محمود خير الله قصيدة تشبهه في ديوانه "كل ما صنع الحداد"، وهو ينحاز فيها إلى ذاته، التي تعيش تفاصيل يومية كثيرة، ولأنه يكتب قصيدة النثر فإن المشهد الشعري يحتل الأولوية في سلم جمالياته الشعرية، وهو من المؤمنين بأن القصيدة لم تعد إنجازًا في اللغة بقدر ما هي انحياز إلى العالم بكل تفاصيله المدهشة ربما أكثر من الخيال ذاته.
يقول محمود خير الله إن قصيدته منحازة إلى الآخرين الذين ولد وعاش معهم حياة كاملة من اللوعة والحرمان والجوع، وهو ما جعل قصيدته مليئة بالذوات الناقصة التي تعوض ما فاتها في الدنيا لتدخل الشعر العربي لأول مرة.
