هذه نماذج من سلوكيات المصريين، والعرب، حكامًا ومحكومين، بها قدر هائل من الاستهبال. وقد صيغت هذه النماذج بطريقة ساخرة، تسخر من سلوكنا تجاه بعضنا البعض، والذي به أيضًا قدرًا هائلًا من ازدواج المعايير ولا يوجد إلا في بلادنا، من يحدثك عن الأخلاق الحميدة، وهو لص، ومن يحدثك عن الشرف والطهارة، وهو (عطاط)، ومن يحدثك عن الدين، وهو أسوأ الناس سلوكًا، ومن يحدثك عن الديمقراطية، وهو أكبر دكتاتور.
ربما كان تعبير "الاستهبال" سوقيًا، أو شعبيًا، ولكن ذلك لا ينفي قيمة الكلمة من الناحية الاجتماعية، والأدبية. ومن ناحية أخرى، لم أجد تعبيرًا بديلًا يحوى نفس "الانطباع"، و"عمق المعنى". فإن أردت أن ترى نماذج من هذا الاستهبال، فأوغل معي في هذا الكتاب، وإلا فلا تستهبل، وتقول لي أن كتابي هذا "آخر استهبال".
