يا سادتي... قصدت المقام حاجّا، اهترأت عظامي في شمالهم وشمالكم، وددت معرفة الأرض كما ولدت، من يومها الأول إلى يومها السادس، ليس هذا فقط، نذرت على نفسي البحث عن مكان يشبه طوري الأول، عندما كنت بدائياً، أنتقل من كهف إلى كهف وأغني بعفوية، أقفز من حجر إلى حجر ممتلئاً بالحياة، قانعاً بقدري، وقتها لم تكن هناك لا ولايات ولا شرطة، لم يكن الدود قد أنجب الرؤساء، رؤساء بهذا العدد المحزن.
لم تكن هناك رياضيات ومستنقعات عابرة للنسغ، ليس هذا فقطن كان لي مشروع آخر: مخطوطات وجب الوصول إليها وفهمها، يجب أن أعترف بأنّي حيوان محظوظ، لي أسرار وجدّ مُهمّ عرف الصحراء وخلف لي كنزاً، سرّاً من أسرار بني عريان، البلدة التي أنجبتني ذات شتاء بلا سبب، دون أن أفكر في الأمر، من غير أن أسيء إلى أحد أو لا أحد، هكذا...
لا أدري إن كان عليّ أن أبوح بالسرّ أم أعلّقه إلى حين، كانت لحيته بيضاء وجميلة، ليست لحية السرّ، بل لحية جدّي، لأنّ السرّ لا لحية له على ما يبدو.
