ولد أندريه ماكين في سيبيريا في العام 1957، كان يتقن الفرنسية بشكل ممتاز؛ في العام 1987 تلقى أندريه ماكين حق اللجوء السياسي خلال رحلة إلى فرنسا وكرّس نفسه للكتابة، عاش حياة مشرد دافناً بذلك فرنسا التي عاشت في ذاكرته من حكايا جدته.
روايته "موسيقى حياة" تعد بحق عملاً أدبياً خالصاً بلغتها النثرية المقاربة للشعر، وكأنها تحكي عن حلم طويل، تروي سيرة حياة في لقاء تم في أحد القطارات وهذه السيرة تختصر بذاتها حياة شعوب يمكن أن يكونوا في أي بقعة على الأرض يعيشون عبثية الحياة بتواتر آلامها وعذاباتها دون مبرر.
يحكي لنا أندريه ماكين عن شخصية ألكسي المؤثرة الذي يواجه الحرب والطغيان ويبقى إلى اللحظة الأخيرة يجد الأمل من ماضيه، من الموسيقا التي أراد نسيانها لكنها بقيت الملاذ الوحيد لحياته المحطمة.
