تعتبر الرسالة القشيرية مصدراً موثوقاً به من مصادر التصوف المعتدل، ومرجعاً معتبراً لشرح ألفاظه ومصطلحاته المتداولة بين المتصوفة، وقد قرب أسلوب القشيري في هذه الرسالة مفاهيم الصوفية إلى العقول والقلوب في آن واحد. وقد كتبها سنة 437 هـ إلى جماعة من الصوفية ببلدان الإسلام، الذين ادعوا التصوف وسلكوا فيه مسالك لا تمت إلى الدين أو الشريعة بصلة، وتنقسم الرسالة إلى قسمين : الأول في سير أعلام التصوف، والثاني في آداب الصوفية وأخلاقهم ومعاملتهم وعقائدهم.
