في مجموعته الشعرية "من وردة الكتابة إلى غابة الرماد" يؤكد الشاعر العراقي حميد سعيد على اللحظة الشعورية ويسعى إلى القبض على أبديتها عبر الكتابة في مشهد شعري يتقد فيه الخيال والواقع معاً "حدقت في بياض خرابي .. /رأيت كوكباً في ثيابي .. / وفي غفلةٍ .. / أشارت إلى الماء .. جاء إليَّ / وألقى حدائقه في يبابي / الأساطير تقبل من يومها .. من بواسقٍ أشجارها / يتساقط تفاحها .. /أخلع نعلي .. أتبعها .. فتريني مفاتنها / وأرى / ثم افتح بابي" . وعلى هذا الدرب يسيح الشاعر بلغته الصورية مستنطقاً فيها نسقها الرؤيوي ومنتجاً عبر ديناميتها التشكيلية مشاهد مثيرة "الطيورُ تُضيّعُ أعشاشها .. والكلاب تموءُ .. / والقطط الأليفة تبكي .. / وجاراتنا يعددن أسماء من قتلوا في البيوت القريبة / الدخان يغطي الشوارع .. /يدخل في كل بيتٍ .. /ويخرج من كل بيت / لماذا أتيتْ ؟! / يسألني كلُّ من ألتقيه .. لماذا أتيت ؟! ...". وهكذا يجتهد الشاعر كثيراً في استدعاء عنوانات وصور مختلفة من تجربته الشعرية ليؤسس حضورها داخل النص من خلال رصد أبعاد تجارب واقعية لا يعرف حجم حريقها إلا الإنسان العراقي. وقد عرف الشاعر كيف يحدث تغييراً نوعياً في صورة حضوره أي الإنسان العراقي وتقديمه داخل القصيدة عبر وسائل بنائية حديثة تركت أثرها على لغته وهو يقدمه في صور رثائية "ليس لهم لغةٌ .. لا أحلام لهم .. ليس لهم أسماء .. / موتى أحياء / يدخلني وجعي في حرم النوم .. ويخرجني وجعي (...)".
توزعت القصائد على قسمين: القسم الأول بعنوان: رباعية وردة الكتابة ويضم: 1- وردة الكتابة، 2- وردة الكتاب .. ثانيةً، 3- ثالثةً .. وردة الكتابة، 4- بعيداً .. عن وردة الكتابة. والقسم الثاني بعنوان: غابة الرماد ويضم: 1- إنها ليست أمريكا .. والتر ويتمان. إنها ليست أمريكا .. إدغار ألن بو، 2- مرثية من قبيل المديح، 3- تخطيطات بالفحم والدم على جدران المتحف العراقي، 4- من نافذة في مشفى .. رأيت وطني.
