تبدو قصص جاسم المطير (غريبة) في واقعيتها، ليست (حداثوية) بمقياس الذين ينظرون لنتاج (الغرب) قياساً ومقايسة، لكنها كذلك، حين نسبر غورها، متعالقة من (الجاحظية) إلى “الليالي”. وكنصوصنا (السردية) القديمة، منذ الإرث الميثولوجي والنصوص الكبرى في ديانات وادي الرافدين، الملاحم والأساطير، الأقوال والأمثال والتعازيم، التي دونت من الذاكرة الشفاهية الطقوسية ـ الاحتفالية، على الطين المفخور ، أو على الحجر والرخام والمرمر في المسلات والنصب، وليس انتهاء “بالمقامات” و”الليالي” عبر حكايات الساردة العباسية (شهرزاد)، بعد قصص (المعلقات) وأبطالها الشعراء الذين وجدا أنفسهم في حياة النص، و(قصص الغرام) التي امتلأت بها قصائد العشاق، منذ عشتار سيدة الحب الأولى. إلى العذريين والصوفيين، حتى المتنبي عاشقاً، وبطل نصه. جاسم المطير، لا يشرد ولا يتيه. ولا يخرج على ذلك الإرث تكفيراً أو إدهاشاً أو لعباً تجريبياً، بل يمتاح منه، ومن علوم عصره، وسرديات القاع المعيش، مضافاً إلى المتخيل.
