وليد كريستيان فيلا عام 1950 ويعيش في بايس. عصامي، مغرم بالعلوم الإنسانية والطبيعة. مؤلف وكاتب سيناريو، نشر أربع عشرة رواية وعشرات الروايات القصيرة. إكس X المكان: مركز التجارب النووية في المحيط الهادي، في جزيرة مورورا المرجانية التابعة إلى بولونيزيا الفرنسية. في صبيحة يوم من أيام تشرين الأول من العام 1977، كانت منافذ ميدان الرمي تعجُّ بحركة نشطة، مع أنه لم يكن مقرراً إجراء تجربة في الحال. إذن فإن النشاط الذي كان يحرك الحشد البشري عند الجوانب الأربعة للجزيرة كان مرده أمراً آخر. ففي الليلة السابقة، قبل الساعة الثانية بقليل، تم إعلان حالة الطوارئ القصوى في القاعدة. وفي الحالة تمّ استنفار جميع الكادر التقني والعلمي والعسكري وإبقائهم في مراكزهم. بيد أن الذي كان على علم بما حصل حقيقة هم نفرٌ قليل منهم. وكان أوّل من عاين الشيءَ الغريب، هم الفنيّون الذين يرتدون الملابس الواقية من الأسلحة النووية، والبيولوجية، والكيمياوية، أثناء قيامهم بدورياتهم على منافذي السطح، حيث كانت منطقة استكشافهم لم تزلْ حتى اليوم السابق ملوّثةً للغاية، ومحرمةً على العاملين غير المزوّدين بالأطقم الخاصة، وكانت عدّاداتهم الجيجر (عدّاد الاستدلال على وجود أشعة ذرية) تشير في صبيحة ذلك اليوم إلى عدم وجود أي نشاط إشعاعي تقريباً، أو كما قال وزير الدفاع متفاخراً بعد مرور ثمانية عشر عاماً “كانت نسبة النشاط أقلّ بكثير مما يسجّل عادة في شوارع باريس”. وكان هذا الوزير يجهل كل شيء عن موضوع حديثنا هنا.
