أتى هذا الكتاب ليقدم لمحة من تاريخ لبنان بالقرون القديمة والوسطى والحديثة وحكامه من أول عهده إلى يومنا هذا وبسط أمام القارئ صفحة مليئة بالفوائد والمعلومات التي لا يستغني عن الإلمام بها كل لبناني استظل سماء بلاده، أو قذفت به الهجرة إلى ما وراء البحار وأنسته الأيام والأعوام وطناً لم يعد يعرف عنه إلا أنه يحمل اسمه وكاد أولاده وأحفاده يتناسون وطنهم الأول.
وينتهي هذا الدليل بقاموس يحتوي على أسماء المدن والقوى والمزارع في الجمهورية اللبنانية وعلو بعضها عن سطح البحر وعدد بيوت السكن فيها خلال سنة 1932 ابتداءً الإحصاء العام الذي كنت مراقباً فيه وتمكنت في أوقات فراغي من جمع وتدوين أكثر هذه المعلومات الدقيقة.
