إذا كانت مزارع شبعا لم تبرز دورها المدوّي إلا مع الإنجاز التحريري الكبير، الذي اجترحته المقاومة اجتراحاً، أواخر أيار من سنة ألفين، فأنّ موضوعها الخطير، وما يطرحه من مشكلات وقضايا، موضوعٌ قديم. لكنه كان منسيًّا، محصورًا في دائرة متواضعة، لم يتحرّك فيها سوى المعنيين به، المعايشين ليومياته، المبصرين لواقعه المؤلم، الذين كانوا يعملون بعيدًا عن الأضواء، وفي طليعة هؤلاء العاملين كان ابن شبعا النائب السابق، مؤلّف هذا الكتاب، الأستاذ منيف الخطيب.
وإذا كان اهتمام المؤلّف بالموضوع، وسعيه الدائب وراء الوثائق العائدة إلى المزارع، وعمله، من خلال الوثائق، لإثبات لبنانية المزارع، إذا كان ذلك ماثلا في الكتاب، وليس لنا، ههنا مجاوزة الإشارة إليه، فإنّ ما يمكن ذكره، ههنا، إنما هو نقاطٌ تساعد في تكوين فكرة مقبولة عن الكتاب:
لقد عاش المؤلّف موضوع الكتاب وعايشه، وعانى منه ما دخل في عملية التأليف.
ليس الكتاب أدبيات سياسية أو شعارات تقول ولا تقول. إنه كلام موثّق، مصوغٌ من الأرقام، والتواريخ، والخرائط، والمستندات السابقة لقيام الكيان الصهيوني، والتالية له. فهو، من هذه الناحية، أول كتاب من نوعه وأوّل وثيقة مهمة تشكّل أساسًا راسخاً ينطلق منه الكفاح المسلّح لاستكمال التحرير بكلّ وسيلة من وسائله.
إنّ الكتاب صوت مدوٍّ، في يقيننا، أنّه قادر على بلوغ أسماع الغرب الذي لا يبلغه سوى أصوات الآخرين.
