"قد مات نزار.. من يعرف كيف يموت الورد؟ من يعرف كيف يموت النور؟ من يعرف كيف يموت الحسن؟ من يعرف كيف يموت الضحك؟.. من يخبرني كيف الأرض تدور إذا مات الشعراء؟ أو كيف تكون؟ من يخبرني؟ قالوا لي: العالم يصبح قحطاً من غير الأشعار... قالوا لي: العالم يصبح قفراً من غير الشعراء... لكن يا أم الشعر.. ماتت ورده وهوت نجمه... قد مات نزار... لكن يا أم الشعر.. وأم النثر.. وأم السحر.. أيا (فيحاء)... تباهي في كل الدنيا عاد المشتاق وقد أضنته الرحلة والأسفار ليريح الرأس على نهديك ويغرق في حلم الأسمار... فتباهي أنتي الحب الأول.. والثاني، بل أنت الأول والآخر.. قد صار ترابك مسكاً.. حين استلقى في أفياء دواليك الملآى فرحاً وثوى في (الغوطة) محتضناً (بروى). قد عاد الفارس فوق جواد أبيض من كلمات وردية واستلقى في قلب التاريخ لينام قرير العين على تغريد بلابلك السكرى طرباً ليشم عطور الوردة.. والنار نخبة... ويصوغ لنا منها كلمات..". في شعره فلسفة خاصة، ومعانٍ مستمدة من واقع الحياة، يحكي الشاعر في السياسة وفي الاجتماع وفي الفن وفي العشق، وفي الجمال يحكي في كل شيء يلفه شعرية متميزة تعبر عن عمق في الإحساس وعن شعرية بعيدة عن التكلف والتصنع.
