صامويل فلبس هنتنجتون Samuel Phillips Huntington.
(ولد 18 أبريل 1927 - توفي 24 ديسمبر 2008) أستاذ علوم سياسية اشتهر بتحليله للعلاقة بين العسكر والحكومة المدنية، وبحوثه في انقلابات الدول، ثم أطروحته بأن اللاعبين السياسيين المركزيين في القرن الحادي والعشرين سيكونوا الحضارات وليس الدول القومية كما استحوذ على الانتباه لتحليله للمخاطر على الولايات المتحدة التي تشكلها الهجرة المعاصرة.
درس في جامعة يال، وهو أستاذ بجامعة هارفارد.
برز اسم هنتنجتون أول مرة في الستينات بنشره بحث بعنوان "النظام السياسي في مجتمعات متغيرة"، وهو العمل الذي تحدى النظرة التقليدية لمنظري التحديث والتي كانت تقول بأن التقدم الاقتصادي والاجتماعي سيؤديان إلى قيام ديمقراطيات مستقرة في المستعمرات حديثة الاستقلال.
توفى يوم 27/12/2008 عن عمر 81 عاما
