خيري الذهبي روائي ومفكر سوري من مواليد دمشق 1946.
غادر إلى مصر في بداية الستينيات وتلقى هنالك تعليمه الجامعي في جامعة القاهرة وتخرج منها حاملاً الاجازة في اللغة العربية حيث درس الأدب العربي وتتلمذ أدبياً على يدي يحيى حقي ونجيب محفوظ وطه حسين، ثم عاد إلى سوريا وساهم في الحركة الثقافية السورية بكثافة في الصحافة والإذاعة والتلفزيون [[|أدب|والأدب]] بشكل خاص.
حاز على جائزة أدب الأطفال الأولى في السبعينات ،وشارك في تحرير العديد من دوريات وزارة الثقافة واتحاد الكتاب.
Book Description
الرواية تعد من أولى الروايات التي تحاول قراءة تأثيرات الحملة الفرنسية على بلد مبعد عن المتوسطية مثل سوريا الداخلية. تدور أحداث الرواية في مدينة دمشق بين الشام شريف أي المدينة المقدسة وأول منازل الحج، وما بين المدينة التي أعاد إبراهيم باشا ابن الثورة الفرنسية صنعها حين فتحها أمام رياح الغرب وأقام فيها للمرة الأولى مفهوم المواطنة خارج الدين والطائفة والعرق فهو المواطن أمام الدولة له حقوق المواطن وعليه واجباته. في هذه الرواية نرى مخاض الخروج من العصور الوسطى والنوم في عسل التاريخ لتستعيد ذكريات المسرح. وتتطرق الرواية إلى مفهوم الفرفور اليواني بشكليه المصري والشامي بعد تجلي شخصية برناردو المحارب في ثورة "الفحامين الطليان" وهو يحاول إيقاظ الفرفور في دمشق، وهكذا يبدأ الاصطدام بين عالمية الهلنستية الجديدة وما بين الشام شريف العثمانية، في آخر مخاضاتها.
