زادت "جبونة" في دموعها بكلمات "الله- باسم الصليب- الوكيل" ثم هدأت ومسحت عينيها بطرف شالها وقالت برعشة: جاني في هويد الليل، حاطط في كتفه بندقية وسيف "فوق راسه حاجة زي حتة الدهب" وعِمه كبيرة وريحته حلوة زي ريحة المسك "شنبه طويل ودقنه كبيرة- اكفينا الشر يارب... عينه تشلع نار زي عينين الديب، قلت حوش يارب- وضلوعي ضاقت وحسيت إن رجليا مقيدين بحبال... وراح يابت عمي ماسك ودني وشدها، الدم طرق "وراح واخد فردة الحلق... وراح شايلني فوق كتفه. وقال لي شوفي يا "جبونة" أنا جاي من آخر الدنيا، وكنت مع اليهود وعايش مع الديابة في الجيل الشرقي- ولو حد عرف إني جيت عندك، ولا قلتي لأي مخلوق، هنبعت لك "النمل" اللي يطفش فروجك وحمامك ويشندل عيشتك.. وخلاص.. سامعة يا "جبونة".. زي ما قلت لك.. وقبل أن تزول الصفرة من وجهي "ظريفة" و"راعوث"، خرج الشيخ "يحيي": يا ساتر.. عوافي ياللي قاعدين، فرد الشيخ "فرج" الواقف كعادته مريحاً ذقنه على يديه المسودتين بعصاه مسلمًا وجهه للشمس، مترنمًا بآيات يراجعها: مرحب يا يحيي.. إزيك وإزاي جماعتك؟
